The AI Unit is the dedicated body established under the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation (MITCI) to lead Mauritius' artificial intelligence journey. We coordinate AI governance, promote innovation, and ensure that technology serves all Mauritians - fairly and transparently.
We are the strategic vehicle for MITCI's Digital Transformation 2025 - 2029 blueprint - a bold roadmap to modernise public services and position Mauritius as a leading AI nation in Africa.

Ramakrishna Mudaliar serves as Head of the AI Unit, where he spearheads the country's people-centric approach to leverage Artificial Intelligence for responsible development and implementation at a national scale. He holds Master's Degrees from the University of Montpellier and the University of Manipal. With more than two decades of experience across both the private technology sector and public service, Ramakrishna brings a well-rounded perspective that bridges innovation with real-world implementation.

Drawing on a strong background in data engineering and technical leadership across the corporate and financial technology sectors, Yudhaveer bridges core data capabilities with practical AI implementation. His expertise spans ICT strategy, enterprise transformation, and technology governance, positioning him to effectively advance national priorities in Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation.
